Reception
In Early Years we believe that children learn best through play. Below are some useful resources and activities for you and your child to explore at home.
Communication is Key!
In Reception we like to talk – a lot! Communication and Language is a prime area of our development. You can help develop your child’s Communication and Language skills by: orally telling stories, engaging in singing and through every day conversations.
Physical Development
Physical development is another prime area of our development. You can support your child with their physical development by practising climbing on apparatus at your local park, undoing and doing up buttons and learning to dress themselves independently. See the ‘Fine Motor Skills’ section for more tips and ideas to support your child.
Read, read, read!
Reading stories supports children with their learning and development. It supports their Communication and Language skills, Imagination and so much more. You should aim to read with your child every day. This includes reading to your child and listening to them reading to you. Shop signs, books from the library, your home and even magazines and comics all count!
